STERIS labs expands services with maldi-tof identification in brooklyn park, MN

STERIS Laboratories is pleased to announce that our new MALDI-ToF (Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization with Time of Flight) system has been fully validated at our Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, USA lab and is now available for Customers of the laboratory to use.

The MALDI-ToF method of identification provides rapid microbial identification and reduces the requirements and risk of performing repeat tests.

This investment has been undertaken in response to regulatory changes that require Customers to perform identification testing of micro-organisms and is the second machine following the one installed at our Tullamore, Ireland laboratory in 2017.

As outlined in ISO 11137, both the number and type of micro-organisms must be identified during sterilization validation, and this state-of-the-art equipment provides a rapid and actionable identification service.

The MALDI-ToF identification service is also available to Customers of our Libertyville, Illinois laboratory, with testing seamlessly managed through our local operational teams.
