STERIS announces expansion in global radiation-processing capacity

March 29, 2019

As part of our long-term commitment to supporting medical device manufacturing, STERIS is pleased to announce that we are making additional investments in radiation-processing capacity throughout our global sterilization network over the next two years.

Our radiation expansion projects include the addition of large-scale processing sites in Venlo, The Netherlands; Northborough, Massachusetts; Libertyville, Illinois; and Ontario, California. In support of this additional capacity, we are also expanding our specialized radiation testing services through a new Radiation Technology Center in Bradford, UK, and additional services at the existing Radiation Technology Center in Libertyville, Illinois.

This additional capacity follows several radiation-processing expansions at STERIS locations over the past three years, including Bradford, UK; Chester, New York; Ontario, California; Tullamore, Ireland; Saxonburg, Pennsylvania; Komenda, Slovenia; and Bitterfeld, Germany.

Increased demand in medical device manufacturing has accelerated our plans for global expansion. The addition of multiple radiation-processing facilities throughout our global network allows us to support Customers with both routine services and processing redundancy. We remain committed to supporting our medical device Customers and our shared goal of ensuring patient safety through a technology-neutral service offering, now and well into the future.
