What is Altitude Testing?
Altitude testing is intended to provide for the anticipated reduction in air pressure when products and packages that may be sensitive to low-pressure environments, are transported by air or road over areas of high altitude. At STERIS, a vacuum chamber is used for altitude testing to simulate changes in air pressure.
Sealed liquid containers or non-porous/non-breathable packages in particular may be adversely affected by high altitude environments.
Testing at STERIS is in compliance with ASTM D6653.
